The Musical Theatre Project
During 2014/15 we have been awarded funding to run a pilot project providing workshops focussing on Musical Theatre. Around twenty young people aged 11 to 20 years old have been involved in taster sessions and regular workshops. The idea came about when young performers in Hawes asked if there was other things they could do during the year when they were not taking part in the local pantomime.
We will be working on songs from Musicals such as Jersey Boys, Lion King, Oliver, Annie, Les Miserables and Blood Brothers to name a few. There will be a mixture of ensemble and solo performances as well as chance for you try vocals and different instruments. All welcome from 7 years and over.
Volunteers Amy Fudali, Ben Joblin, Toby Pearson, John Raine, Philippa Stanyon, Carolyn Teasdale and Andy Warboys support Colin Bailey to deliver the sessions held at Thornton Rust Institute. The sessions are part of the NYMAZ Musical Inclusion programme for North Yorkshire, funded by Youth Music.
